The re-release of The The’s album “Mind Bomb” calls for a fresh design approach. In this new artwork, the client wanted to incorporate 3D handmade designs, departing from the original portrait of frontman Matt Johnson.
To achieve this, I have created three ceramic heads using plaster moulds and slipcast white earthenware. These ceramic heads echo Johnson’s original portrait, with a unique twist: the centre head features luxe gold lustre detailing. This highlighting of critical thinking, sets it apart from the other two ordinary, plain talking heads.
With the handmade design, the goal is to appeal to new demographics, inviting them to discover the music that lies within the album “Mind Bomb.”
